Other options for taking legal action

We are only able to support cases that have the potential to be legally precedent settings.  Unfortunately, this means that we must exclude many people who have a legitimate need for legal assistance.

If you feel that you fall into this category, our Advice for cyclists section features advice on other options that may be open to you.

You may already have access to legal advice and assistance if you are a member of a local or national cyclists’ organisation.  If you are not, you may be able to access legal assistance by joining CTC – the national cyclists’ organisation.

If you are in doubt about whether you meet our criteria, please send a brief email to info@cyclistsdefencefund.org outlining your situation and we will advise on what course of action to take.

Options for obtaining free legal advice

The websites listed below give free, independent legal advice but these organisations may not be able to supply cycling specific advice, whereas cycling organisations may offer free cycling specific legal advice to their members. CDF does not endorse any particular providers.

Advice now- online information from a variety of sources applicable to England and Wales
The Law Centres- online free independent legal advice and representation
